I was looking at this alarm the other day and it has some cool features. I really liked the fact it has a distance of 6000 feet to transmit to the receiver unit.

How much did you pay for it? If I was down in FL, I would be interested to help out with the install because I might get this in teh future.

I think most alarms has a range of 6000 feet or 1.5 mile range.

I know of no other alarms that claim to be 1 1/4 miles. The Viper claims to be 1000 feet. A buddy of mine has a CompuStar and I have the Viper. Once you add trees and buildings in the way, the range isn't that much different

The reason I'd pick the CompuStar over the Viper if I did it all over again is the remote start. It checks to make sure the parkling brake is on and that the car isn't in gear before starting it

I was reading the manual online for the compustar alarm. Is it true that with a 6 speed transmission in order to use the remote start you must set the alarm into reservation mode? And inorder to get into reservation mode you must remove the ignition key and the car stays running for another 2 minutes before shutting itself off. Is that correct? Do you have to waste 2 minutes of gasoline each time you want to use the remote start on a 6 speed transmission? Please clarify if you have this alarm with a 6 speed. Thanks

The engine will shut off as soon as you shut the door. Which is detailed in the process to enable the reservation mode.

The reservation mode is something like this...

Park
Neutral
Pull E-Brake
Push Brake
Open Door
Get out of car
Shut Door
Car Shuts off

Hey DaTaSPike, and others not "Push Brake" you have to let go.

Your car is stoped, Neutral, Foot of from Brake, open door, out, shut door, and your car shuts of about 5 sec. latar or so and Security system is ON or reservation mode is on.

It works great for me, because I had my Z out side and every morning I used this system and by the time I leave for work, my Z is ready to go.

IF you open/unlock the door, trunk open, Valet mode is turned on before you use the remote start option, the reservation mode will not work, due to safety future on this system.

I had my system installed by compuStar dealer, which Cost me $650 with motion sensor.
