Carbon FIber Hood Good or worthless?

I have been thinking about getting a carbon fiber hood but I havent made my final decision yet. Do you guys think it will look good in my car which is silverstone? I also want to know if there are other benefits other than cosmetic? I saw one at Performance Nissan for around $800. Is that a good price? How much should I pay for install? This is the one I want to get!

It's kinda a pointless add-on since our hoods are already aluminum. That carbon fiber one will more than likely weigh just as much if not more than the stock one.

It would, however, look awesome on your car. Wish I knew where I could find a pic for you.
The stock hood is lighter than any CF hood on the marked..Simply for looks..
I have that hood. You can buy it direct from www.visracing.com for cheaper than anywhere else you might find it. Also keep in mind a few things. Mine did not fit directly, it had to be flexed just to close. It was because it would rub on the strut tower bar and have to bend around it. Maybe it was just my hood, but either way, be cautious. Secondly, I ended up removing the plastic rain catch from underneath my hood because I wanted the air to vent out from the engine, plus it eliminated the flexing issue.
If you do get a CF hood for your Silverstone....for god's sake PLEASE don't put a black bra on the car. :headshake:
So, looks & ventilation would be your advantages. If you happen to like the looks of the thing...

What do you do when it rains?

You let mother nature take its course. I don't do anything. If it rains or snows than that is that, there is no harm done to the engine.
I believe there's only 1 CF hood that saves weight (and it's only like 2lbs), but for $600, you would save more weight in other areas. CF goes will with Silverstone so it won't look bad on your car.
Hey, Al. The new McLaren team should be fun to watch!

Sorry for hijacking the thread. Carry on.

[hijack] Yea, I can't wait for the season to start! JPM couldn't fit inside the McLaren, his rear was too big, LOL! They might have to make him a custom chassis like they did for Wurz (McLaren really makes their chassis narrow). I'm still a fan of Williams BMW, though. [hijack/]
What do you mean I wouldnt fit in a Mc Laren
most cf hoods come with a trap to prevent rain entering through the slots check this hood out Seibon ts carbon fiber hood link http://www.i-m-racing.com/setsstcafiho.html
i just ordered this hood for my z but mine is chrome silver, i am ancious to wait and see how it looks, heres a pic of a nice detail you can give to it if you dont like the complete cf look!! http://store1.yimg.com/I/ntnsracing_1826_12610015

I don't know you so I couldn't say if you could fit in the McLaren or not. Juan Pablo Montoya (JPM) couldn't fit in the McLaren Mercedes F1 car (The MP4-19B I think it was) because he was too fat.

The guy probably is trim and fit and has a BMI of 10, but he's a couple of centimeters too wide for the seat. :lmfao: That's my guess anyway.
