There is no difference in any of the models engine or suspension wise except for the 05' Track/Anniversary model. It has 300 crank hp compared to 287 but you lose some torque. Also the rev limiter is raised to 7200rpm's

Here is a rundown on all the models and specs. The only thing that has changed really this year is with the track/anniversary model. The diffference between the models are wheels, cruise control, traction control, and other ammenities for the most part.

What are your plans? Do you plan on moddifying the car?

The base is exactly what it says.. a base mode. It lacks the sweet HID headlamps, the bigger 18" tires, and traction control.

The enthusiast includes the HID lights, and traction control.

The performance includes VDC (a more precise traction control system) 18" wheels and a few other options.

The touring includes the upgraded stereo (which in everyones opinion sucks) leather seats and optional navigation system.

The track model includes special light weight rims (18lbs each) and upgraded brembo brake package.

If you want to do any modifying, the best is probably the enthusiast or performance model. The only advantage the touring has is the navigation. For the price difference you can have aftermarket leather seats installed and they will look so much better than the stock ones.

I would not get an automatic in the Z. I think it takes away from the driving experience. I love tearing through the gears onto the highway sometims and would definitely miss it with an auto..

If you have more specific questions, or can post what you want to do with the car, we may be able to advise better.

The only real difference is that people will make fun of you if you go with the Auto. :nana:

Performance-wise they're pretty much the same unless you're an expert manual shifter....then you'd have an advantage.

Do you plan to drive in the snow at all? If yes, then I would scratch off every model except for Performance, Touring and Track. These two models are guarantee to come with traction control and vehicle dynamic control (VDC). Both of these systems are critically important in the snow. Trust me, I have driven through Cleveland's worst winter on record and both systems helped alot. You will also need snow tires.

I would completely forget the automatic tranny and the base model. Unless you plan to bracket race, the auto really isn't what you need. Everyone I know who has an auto now wants a manual. As for the base model, it lacks all the best features. Especially the LSD. Without an LSD, you really cannot put the power to the ground. If you want to feel the full performance of the car, you must have and LSD and the base model does not. Plus, the base model looks really funny smoking only one tire at a time.

I would personally recommend the performance or track models.
