I bought mine at Brown's Fairfax Nissan in March '04, and they tried to trick me. When I walked in I told them I wanted to buy it for such and such amount for 60 months at such and such payments.
Everything was going so well, I was getting the payments I wanted for the # of yrs I wanted...or so I thought. I was about 80% done with the paperwork, had signed a bunch of stuff, including the loan terms, but the sales manager messed up the paperwork and we had to start over.
Just I was about to sign the new loan paper, I noticed that they had snuck 72 months in on me without telling me. I was pissed. I told them no way. They gave me sh*t about me agreeing to those terms. I told them to give me my keys back. All of a sudden they were doing whatever they could to get me into that car.
They wacked my interest rate down like 4 points, gave me discounted extended warranty, gave me more for my old car, and gave me the aero package for free. 3 hours later, after like 10 times asking for my keys back, I got what I wanted. In the end I won, but it was a PITA.
The sales team that helped me were fine, except for one guy who was way pushy. It was when I got to working out the loan that it got all sh*tty.
Side note - I kinda wish I would have waited like 6 months. Right now, around here, everyone is offering anywhere from 3000 to 10,000 dollars off MSRP. Oh well, I love my Z. No complaints.
Moral of the story, read carefully. Even if they tell you what you want hear, it doesn't mean it's in writing.
Second moral of the story. Actuall, it was more like something learned. If you take up a lot of their time and then say 'no deal' then will bend over backwarks for you. In retrospect, I probably could have gotten an even better deal.
