I made a template to help me come up with some graphics. If any of you guys want it to do sketches... well here it is.

It is NOT 100% accurate but close enough for rough sketch work.

Oh, and I was too lazy to add the gas cap lid on the reverse angle. I wasnt sure of the exact placement... yeah and the wheels are goofy, but hey.... *yawn*

I'm sure there might be some better stuff out there... maybe this is a good place to link resources.

**** UPDATED**** All art is vector - logos added. Download pdfs for vector art.

Cool now if I could just learn to color in the lines.

No, starting from the beginning: how would I go about tracing a picture of a Z in illustrator?
Here are some good design tutorials about using livetrace and livepaint to auto-convert images:

For more control, you will need to learn how to use the node and vector tools to quickly create and edits your paths.

Ah, personally I wish I had used the clean outline version u attached. I used a photo and it was harder to pick out some of the lines. I wanted it simple so I could concentrate on graphics so it still worked out.

I assume that anyone attempting this know how to use Bezier curves.

Basically, I just placed my .jpg into the ill. file. I dialed back the transparency a bit so that I could see my curves easier, locked it, then went to town on tracing the lines.

I hope that helps. If not I can be a little more detailed.

Yes, that works too... however... any "auto" conversion tool will still need a tad bit of touch up by hand. At least that has been my experience. Ever since I started doing graphic design the auto-converters were clunky so I never used them much.

I did mine fast by hand, so I could have made it a little more acurate. I was just wanting a basic template.

Haha, I'm with you...don't place too much faith in them although they really did a good job with the new one in Illustrator. I'm old enough to remember Adobe Streamline...kept OS9 running for awhile just for that.

Sometimes I feel like I'm playing the piano working with the keyboard shortcuts for the bezier tools. What kind of work do you do?

I work (or pretend to work ) at an ad agency. We do all automotive ads... about 70% dealerships, 30% manufatcurers. It's an ok job... but desigers don't get paid much.

I started this thread cause I knew there were a few guys wanting to do some cool graphics. Maybe it will help.

Here is one that I made that used to be my signature.

If it isn't already clear...it comes from the picture that is in my current signature, only the proportions are a little shorter and taller (see 'scrunched')

I always make car drawings at work...but they are more cartoony...they basically look like cykick's avatar.
