Hi I want to know any way to get DVD, CD and mp3 with my stock

navigation.

one day, I went to stereo shop and they called the price $3200.

they said that I have to take the Navi and DVD rom out, and then

put new stuff in the place..

So, I found some web site which sells Navigation Video Switcher systems

for stocks and their pics show it works. but I'm little bit confused of them.

could u guys visit this site, and give me a little notice??

site : http://www.avelectronic.com/products.htm

ps I think this systems help people have stock navi to save a lot money!

It looks like you need to buy the Infiniti/Nissan switcher, and then splice it into the OEM system. I don't have the stock Navi system, so this is the part I'm not sure of, but you need to connect a DVD player to the Navigation Video Switcher, and I'm guessing the OEM one won't work. If you're looking for MP3 playback, you'll need something aftermarket anyway. So I think you're looking at the cost of the Navigation Video Switcher plus the cost of a new DVD/CD/MP3 headunit plus the cost of installation.
hm...so I need to get the switcher and new DVD stuff. now I understand about stock Navi systems. thx Dirn!!
Gnet makes a device so you can use stock nav...http://gnetcanada.com/factoryintegration.htm
thx for ur info, ZTT I will visit there
That requires the use of a DVD player as well. The OEM Navi isn't set up to play DVDs aside from the navigation one that I believe you get when you buy the car. I don't know that the stock headunit can be used with any of these aftermarket products that allow you to play video on the stock LCD. But again, I don't know the stock Navi, so I could be mistaken. Hopefully someone who does have it, or knows more about it, will be along shortly
in conclusion....I need both switcher system and DVD & other headunit.
that's my decision..T_T

By the way, TK didn't have Navi with his, but it is an add on that you can buy
I know Nav-tv.com makes a TV/DVD out of the stock BMW navigation and of other cars. You should ask them.

I do know that several Z owners have left the Nav unit in place, but removed the stock headunit and put either something aftermarket. Some did a 7" LCD screen hooked up to a custom computer/Xbox or an aftermarket headunit with a screen that plays mp3s, dvds, vcds, etc. I think the latter is your best bet. TK is selling his right now as Dirn pointed out at an excellent price.

Nav-tv wont talk to you unless you have an account with them... I went through this last year...
I found a shop that dealt with Nav-tv and was quoted somewhere around $1200 for the cables - without the install.. they wouldnt even try to install it on my car , supposedly its complicated

I got Nav-Tv installed on my car and the wires only cost around $350 maybe a little more I don't really remember. I Still retained my stock headunit however i di have to buy another dvd player that i mounted in the cubby hole right next to the stock navigation-dvd player. no matter what system you go with you will have to get another dvd player. the nav dvd player does not have a decoder built into it to play DVDs. the avelectronics system is good
