On my 03 JDM I'm experiencing some transmission noise more then usual, and the gears are more tough to get into, plus it's about time to change my tranny fluid.
I'm seeing good results from other cars using REDLINE SHOCKPROOF in transmissions. I'm wondering on our cars should use LightweightShockproof or Superlightweight Shockproof oil.
Any comments welcome! thx!!!

I've always heard really mixed reviews about Redline, more negative than positive results usually. 2 friends of mine who are both involved in Motorsport (not Z's) swear against using Redline for anything.

I've used Royal Purple in my gearbox and diff and engine - never had any issues. It's very hard to find any bad reviews on Royal Purple oils.

I've heard nothing but great reviews for Royal Purple as well, unfortunately it's not availale here... -_-!!

My only choices are REDLINE and MOTUL

Motul doesn't seem to play too well in our engines from what I've heard and read, but I've used it in my gearbox without issue. Gear300 is what I used and it was fine.
At the end of the day its your call which way to go, but if the only options were Redline or Motul for your tranny, I'd be going the Gear300 from Motul for sure.

Ever since i got the car, engine oil has been nothing but Motul 300V, definately awesome!
And i've used Gear300 for tranny and diff, the first few months were really smooth as a baby's a$$!
but it just dont do the durability trick too well!
So i've decided to give "Redline Superlightweight Shockproof" a try, let u all know how it goes!

after thoughts...
Engine Oil, I've remain to use Motul 300V 10W40. Great stuff!
Diff oil, same Gear 300 as last year!
Transmission oil, I've changed it to Redline Superlight weight Shockproof gear oil. It does take 10-20 miles to start feel actual differences. I had a bit of grinding issue when I shift fast into second gear before, after running the Superlight shockproof gear oil for 20miles, I've noticed the grinding was gone! Even for light normal driving, going to each gear is almost effortless! Definately worth trying!

If I run into any problems down the road, I'll report back here!

I have RL in my rear diff and transmission. I changed it at 30k miles, and now I'm around 50k. Knock on wood, but I haven't had any problems.

Redline shockproof tranny oils are formulated for racing gearboxes with straight cut teeth. I wouldn't use it in my synco gearbox. I've stuck with Redline MT85 as it fits the Nissan viscosity requirements, and is a pure synthetic lube designed with enough friction to optimize syncro operation. MT85 has given consistently good performance in our six-speed trannys.
