I doubt anyone can answer this without guessing as the hood (bonnet/boot) must be closed to measure it. i understand that it is pretty tight though.

Try this. Put a pile of modelling/sculpting clay on top of the strut bar, then close the hood and let it settle a bit, then open the hood and see how thick the squashed clay is. This would give you an aidea of how much room there is I would think. I don't know what else to try. Sorry.

Just yesterday I had a 235/40/18 wheel/tyre in there and it barely fit. So find out what the width of 235/40/18 Continental ContiSport2 tyre is and you'll be pretty close. I don't think there was morew than 5mm clearance.

lol thanks for the help guys but i mean the height

i just found this pic to illustrate what i mean, would this be a 12" or 10" sub?

screen.width*0.7) {this.resized=true; this.width=screen.width*0.7; this.alt='Click here to open new window';}" onmouseover="if(this.resized) this.style.cursor='hand';" onclick="if(this.resized) {window.open('http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v629/tpiace/3825stereo1-small.jpg');}" />

im planning on extending the box all the way to the bulkhead

LOL that sounds a bit better Harry

the 10" subs ive bought have a mounting diameter of 231mm, so im happy, theyll fit with room to build a thick box

just another quick question, Harry did u measure the height with the boot matt fixed?

You know, after you put in all those speakers/amps in the car is will be probably a 1500kg+ car. That's pretty heavy (as the stock car is quiete heavy in the 1st place). Also all the extra weight will sit over the rear suspension ... not sure what that will do to the car, but Commodores will not be that much heavier. Not that is the end all, be all but it's just good to be aware of these things.

im only a small guy, so that should start me off with a few extra kgs to spare

seriously though, i dont buy into the whole "i spent 2K opening my gearbox and changing to this clutch coz it saved me 0.25kg" Dont get me wrong im not against performance mods, i want to fit one of those k&N Typhoon intakes, but im always skeptical about the claimed hp such mods give. For me itd be more about improving response and induction noise

id rather have a nice ICE system to listen to on the road every day, which is more my thing

i spose if u wanted outright acceleration ud buy a WRX for 30K less and mod that, with that much cash to spare itd be a 10 sec car

btw one more sleep to my test drive :shiftdrive:
