To be fair, John Morton did indeed win the SCCA national championship in the BRE 240Z in 1970 (and 1971). But Brock Racing Enterprises is far more notable for it's Datsun 510 victories than it's Z racing. BRE faded from Z racing pretty much after '72. On the other hand, Bob Sharp Racing did more for the Z's racing heritage here in America than BRE ever did. Racking up an impressive string of SCCA and IMSA victories, in every model of Z from the original all the way up to the Z32 in the '90's.
But oh well, marketing likes firsts more than consistency. Either way, it's cool for Nissan to commemorate it's racing history in such a fashion. Looks great.
