Hey guys, I’ve been having problems getting my Z to start this morning. When I turned the key in the ignition the car would sound like a lawnmower. I noticed that the voltage meter would slowly drop down to 0 and the lights/most of the electronics would then begin going haywire. The only thing that consistently stays on is the battery and ebrake light.

I tried jumping the car too but didn’t get anywhere with it either.

I had hoped to atleast get the engine on to determine if it was a battery issue or the alternator (as in if the car would die after jumping). However, I’m just as confused as I was this morning since the electronics seem to apparently work - given the light show and forced windshield wipers from keeping the key in the ignition.

thanks in advance for anyone who can provide me with some sense of further direction.

Welcome- you didn't mention whether you checked and cleaned both battery terminals to ensure good contact. Also check to make sure the ground strap is properly grounded as well. This is basic, but let me know how this goes.

If you jumped it and it wouldn’t start, either the battery is completely dead (and I mean completely!) because you should be able to start it even with a near dead battery. Or….

I’m with dkmura, there’s a faulty connection somewhere. Start by checking voltage with a VOM then cleaning the terminals once you’ve verified proper voltage is present.
