JUST THE OTHER NIGHT I WAS CRUISING ALONG MINDING MY OWN BUINESS. OUT OF NOWHERE COMES A 944 TURBO WANTING A TASTE OF THE Z. I WAS GOING ABOUT 60MPH AND EASED IT INTO 4TH GEAR(SHOULD HAVE CHOSEN 3RD). I NAILED IT AND PULL AWAY FROM THE PORSCHE ABOUT A CAR LENGTH. I HAD TO LET OFF AT 90MPH (DUE TO TRAFFIC), BUT THE 944 WAS SLOWLY GAINING ON ME. NOT SURE WHAT MODS HE HAD, I DID SEE AFTERMARKET EXHAUST. I AM TOTALLY STOCK. I THINK IF I WOULD HAVE HIT 3RD HIS AS_ WOULD HAVE BEEN TOAST. I REALLY DID NOT EXPECT THAT POWER FROM A 944. ANYONE ELSE RACE A 944?

944 is pretty crummy. depending on the year....they range from 217HP (1986, 1987, 1988) to 250HP (1988 turboS). the 1985.5 euroT only had 220. the 1999 has 247hp. they typically run 0-60 anywhere between 5.9 to 6.6 second and run the 1/4 mile anywhere from 14.2 to 15.1 stock.

i don't doubt you left him behind you. if you shifted into 3rd...he would have been even further back!
