Impressive list but im not a fan of the 0-60mph test, you cant compare cars based on that measurement alone, as performance cars have simply outgrown it

the Euro 0-100mph/160km/h is a better measurement imo. All your doing with 0-60 is measuring traction and gearing. Example, the WRX listed runs a similar 0-60mph as an SL55, but once past 60 the Rex's run out of gears and puff and the SL55's gone, it is the fastest accelerating production car to 300km/h

Thanks for the post. I've owned several of these of these cars through the years. It's cool to see how they stacked up against each other. My first car was a 1986.5 Fiero GT.

Hey Iggy,
Those numbers are not the 'real' 0-60mph for any of throse cars. None of those cars were tested to obtain that data, but really just run through a program/simulator on a computer to 'predict' the 0-60mph times.

The m ain downfall of using a simulator is that it can't predict what kind of traction the cars have. And as you know, traction is an incredibly important aspect in achieving a good 0-60mph time. Good example is the dismal 6.17sec time listed for the S2000 ... I'm not sure if anyone in US has clocked one that slow. Most measured times fall between 5.5 and 5.9sec.

Here's the info from the site that you got the numbers from:

"The performance numbers come from the Cartest 2000 computer simulation program. This java-based application allows you to enter specifications for a vehicle, which is normalizes to perform mathematical acceleration and track simulations. This application must make several assumptions about power delivery, center of gravity, suspension geometry, etc. so the results may not match real-world numbers exactly."

All your doing with 0-60 is measuring traction and gearing.

The gearing is not that important ... the only significant difference it'll make is determine how many gear-changes are needed to reach a particular speed (as each gear-change looses time). Though, making the gearing shorter/longer does not have that much impact in particular to 60mph.

Good 0-60mph times are more about power, weight and traction. Less weight, and more power and traction the quicker you will be.

the Euro 0-100mph/160km/h is a better measurement imo.

I agree 100%. 0-160kph will tell you a fair bit about the car's ability to accelerate while 0-60mph (and even 400m times) are still heavily traction related.

You can always tell how quickly a car accelerates by it's 0-160kph time, but you can't always do so by it's 0-100kph or 400m time.

Hehe, David, you're on the money there! :) I didn't put this up as the "holy grail" ... I was doing a search and found it... should've read a bit better to see how they got the results. It looked pretty realistic for the 350Z tho! 5.30 (which we both know you could get on a sunny day! :)

Tell me what cars are you interested in, and I'll probably know their N'ring time.

rememeber the Porsches were 1, 2 and 3.......GT2, Turbo and GT3 if i remember correctly.

The 'production car' record is held at the moment with the Carrara GT at 7:32.5sec. They you have the Zonda S at 7:44 followed by the 996 GT2 at 7:46.

If you're interested in a 350Z, then that has returned 8:26 inthe same hands as all the other cars.

Then the R34GTR but the car was run on semi slicks

R34 GTR never got on the 'list' as there has not been a 'verified' or authentic time posted. Though, you might be mistaking it with the R32 GTR who was claimed to be the 1st 'production car' to get bellow the 8min mark. Nissan claimem 7:59, but it forgot to mention that the car that managed this time was more of a race car as it was running a lot more boost, rollcage, had cunstom suspension tunned specificaly for the lap of N'ring, and also was on sticky tyres. Closest 'reputable' time for R32 GTR was by a couple N'ring pros from US and that was at 8:32.5sec if I rememebr correctly.
