I was watching qualifying yesterday when that happened. It was crazy. They impounded the guys car that broke to check it out. Forced all the cameras out of the garage before they would take the engine panels off.

Just watch Q2 from my DVR. Also visited Felipe Massa's website and he's doing well. CT scan came back clear.

They said durring the pre race show the amount of force the spring had when it hit his head was equal to 1600 pounds... yes, 1600 pounds. He is damn lucky it hit where it did and not another inch or two to the right where it would've gone through his visor. I read they are keeping him in a coma but when they woke him up for a couple test he recognized his family and tried speaking. He's supposed to have surgery soon to remove more skull fragments.

That is horrible what happen to Henry Surtees to say the least.

Truth is these are just freak accidents and there is no way around them in open wheel racing.

I just saw an article and thought "Woohoo!" Not that I'm glad about Massa's condition, and I hope he recovers fully. I think it's pretty cool that Schumi is back, which might create quite the stir in the F1 world.

Michael Schumacher happy with Fernando Alonso's move to Ferrari for 2010

SUZUKA, Japan (AP) Seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher has welcomed Ferrari's signing of Fernando Alonso for the 2010 season, saying he helped lure the Spanish driver.

Schumacher said on his personal Web site: "Fernando with Ferrari, that's something I like a lot.

"I was involved from the very beginning in this decision and I always liked the idea."

Schumacher, who won five of his record seven drivers' world championships with Ferrari, works as a consultant with the Italian team.

The move of two-time champion Alonso from Renault is the most high-profile driver swap since Schumacher joined Ferrari from Benetton in 1996. __________________
