After a bit of thought I have decided to go into semi-retirement in the Politics & Religion section of the forum. I realized that offering one's unsolicited opinion on such topics is a supreme form of arrogance that I no longer wish to participate in.

The reason that I am calling this a semi-retirement is that I will offer my opinion on any subject if I am specifically asked. So if you are ever bored enough to wonder "What does Ronin think about..." then ask it here. Otherwise I will no longer be participating in this section of the site, outside of my administrative duties.

Regards,
Ronin Z

Well, personally, I'll miss you...you right wing, misogynistic, racist, know-it-all, bastage.

Btw, I'm also not going to reply to the haters in the P & R forum. And since 2036 is gone and Cykick also is "out" on a self imposed P & R moratorium, we'll leave it to Robin to sell Thompson to the masses.

One thing I will miss is your ability to make all of us look like idiots in a hilarious manner. No one here has quite the wording you do.

I do think it is time to get back to 350Z talk. I have neglected that area of this site for awhile, I guess because priorities have changed for me lately.

I have two takes on political discussions:

1. No matter what you say it doesn't matter. Confirmation bias rules the day. People will not hear what they don't want to hear, and the Media tells us who to vote for (subliminally and openly).

2. On the other hand if you present enough evidence and pound at it enough, a few people may change. You would never believe I was a Republican Christian at one point in my life would you?

1. Correctamundo.

2. This is only true for people who even have the ability to change in the first place. I don't want to come off as judgmental, but the vast majority of people have the political beliefs that they do because they were raised that way. It was no particular thought or effort on their part. And I have to laugh when I listen to someone try to vehemently defend a position that they themselves have never researched or thought through on their own. It's like the masses of people who identify themselves as Christian but have never read the Bible.

Congrats on your decision. I learned very quickly that trying to defend or support an opinion in the politics and religion forums that was against the majority was a foolish uphill battle. I think I retired after the first time I posted in there
