Federal prosecutors are investigating whether employees of the private security firm Blackwater USA illegally smuggled into Iraq weapons that may have been sold on the black market and ended up in the hands of a U.S.-designated terrorist organization, officials said Friday.
Yeah Blackwater, thanks for your help. Maybe you can sell yourself in the U.S. There might be a hurricane aftermath you can eff up as well.

well cliff they are going to be doing the same thing here. The plan is to privatize their existence at home. If you're not concerned about that neither am I. ;)

They are immune from prosecution over there but it is interesting as new allegations come up:
Quote:

BAGHDAD - Iraqi investigators have a videotape that shows Blackwater USA guards opened fire against civilians without provocation in an incident last week in which 11 people died, a senior Iraqi official said Saturday. He said the case had been referred to the Iraqi judiciary.

I like this part of the article Dan posted:

Quote:

The al-Maliki aide said Friday that the Iraqis were pushing for an apology, compensation for victims or their families and for the guards involved in the shooting to be held "accountable."

Hadi al-Amri, a prominent Shiite lawmaker and al-Maliki ally, also said an admission of wrongdoing, an apology and compensation offered a way out of the dilemma.
Seems the Iraqi's are taking cues from our democracy*....which gives an avenue to ambulance chasers....in this case, I guess they'd be called military chasers.....

actually para-military chasers, since, as much as they believe otherwise, Blackwater is a private security company....with one hell of a contract.
Quote:

Blackwater USA is one of five companies picked by the Department of Defense Counter-Narcoterrorism Technology Program Office in a a five-year contract for equipment, material and services in support of counter-narcoterrorism activities. The contract is worth up to $15 billion. The other companies picked are Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and Arinc Inc. Blackwater USA has also been contracted by various foreign governments. In 2005, it worked to train the Naval Sea Commando regiment of Azerbaijan, enhancing their interdiction capabilities on the Caspian Sea.
