LOL I have no idea what you mean by that, but no, everyone is curious still as some people don't know the new GT-R has been dropped of its R and Skyline traits!
I was trying to be facetious.

well it cannot be v35 because that's the g35/skyline.
and it cant even start with v thirty-anything because that's still g35/skyline and the gt-r is no longer a skyline.

it cannot be c35 because there already was a c35. i dont think it could be a c36 either because that's still nissan laurel, and the gt-r isn't a laurel, no matter how you slice it.

imo - between v,r, and c, it would make the most sense for it to be 'r' by far. this is not a nissan laurel in the same way that its not a skyline.

just how nissan went from z32-z33 even after having skipped a product cycle, the same could be done with the r34-r35.

i agree with you in that the most powerful designation would be R35. i am hoping it is R35. i am not assuming the position of desire for C36. R35 would ring in an amazing new reality to the GTR program.

were it C36, i would be okay with that. but now, i ask you, tekky, what is, then, the current chassis code, in longhand, for the Laurel? it must be at least 3 letters long and then a number. yes?

i ask you this because the very first GTRs were C10 and C110 (from the longhand KPGC10 and KPGC110).

first off, two cars could theoretically share the same letter- but it isnt normally done while both are in production in anywhere near similar segments. in any case when it is done, they usually have two totally seperate ranges. for instance you have the '99 tino (v10) and '03 skyline (v35).

in any case, from what i understand the first two letters designate a model out of a range. i believe the skyline sedan is really pv35 while the coupe is cpv35, although i am not sure. anyway in the case of the laurel, i think these are the designations for the c35 family (as well as their drivetrain):

HC35 (RB20DE / FR)
GC35 (RB25DE/T / FR)
GNC35 (RB25DE / AWD)
GCC35 (RB25DE/T / FR+AWS)
SC35 (RB28 / FR)

AWD= attesa
AWS=hicas

these cars shared some skyline components, but they are not skylines, and they're definitely not GT-Rs. they are no longer in production, the last generation was around 1999 i think.

i really think the C36 designation is rumor, perhaps started from someone who might not have known much about the Laurel. I maintain that R35 could realistically be the chassis code for the new GT-R. The skyline has already been seperated from it- the skyline is now the V series.

In MY09 I think we'll see Nissan Z34, R35, and V36 models for sale in the US, under their appropriate product names (Z, GT-R, and G)

i pray your are correct. i'd love to see R35. that would be killer.

I designed r35gtr.com 2 years ago, I got it up in the top ranks in search engines (when I thought for sure the next GT-R was R35), and trust me, now that I know it won't be R35, I have let it die down. People insist on it and keep searching for "r35 gtr" in google, yahoo, msn but they are ending at a dead end, it's not R35, would it be it, Nissan somehow would have mentioned the continuation, but alas they didn't.

in my opinion, Nissan is not mentioing jack shit about anything.

indeed, it may not be R anything. but who knows anything anymore. no matter what anyone mentions, it is never the "right" way. a magazine says "C36," and that's "not right" according to the fan community.

rumors remain "R35," and that's not right.

some say "V36," and that's not right.

so nobody is right, then. we can say any damn number we wish, and NONE OF THEM are "right."

it's "TY54" then. nope. that's not right. sam over here says it's "KJIO()" --and nope-- that's not right.

bob says it's a V8TT ---nope-- that's "not right."

hugh says it's a V6TT --nope--that's not right. that is rumor only. it's not confirmed or correct. it's just not right.

joe says it's an N/A V8 ---nope-- that's just "not right."

harry says "paddle shift" and ---nope-- that is just not right; it's just a rumor. and none of them are right.

larry says it's a 6spd manual and ----nope--- that is not right

the Proto has 20" wheels but the production car will have only 19"s ---nope-- that's not right
the Proto has 20" wheels and the production car will have 20"s ----nope-- that's not right

the Proto's roofline is awkward and i hear that's going to change ----nope---- that's not right
the Proto's roofline is aerodynamically structured and is a hallmark of the body design ----nope--- that's just not right

the GTR cannot possibly be light enough --- nope -- sorry, charlie -- that's not right
the GTR will be extremely lightweight and constructed of bonded aluminum sections ----nope --forget it, pal-- that's not right

the GTR will be priced around $60,000 --nope-- that's not right
the GTR will be priced around $80,000 --nope-- that's not right

the GTR will be R35 ---nope
the GTR will be C36 ---nope
the GTR will be V36 ---nope
the GTR will not have any coding ---nope
