Actually, from talking with some people that are involved with this stuff, some of the "replicas" are not really "replicas" but are actually the same exact thing made at the exact same manufacturing facility. Obviously this is shady practice, but if the "real" companies are going to jack up the prices to around 1k for a bumper, then I am willing to spend 300 on a full kit that in all probability is the same product.

That stuff really happens?

Yes, you're right it does.... I get so frustrated looking at the actual invoice price from the mfr to the vendors here for stuff from Asia. It's highway robbery.

Sure. But what is involved in design and labor? I just don't see it as "jacking" it up.

I would love to know the details surrounding it's trip from Japan to a Yahoo store front.

ill, i am all with you on what your saying. Someone works hard to design a great product and then some lazy rats come in and make their own version and sell it for alot less. It happens every day even with consumer products. I agree with you that one should spend more money and get the quality and real deal but then again I am a full time college student earning 11.00 an hour so if I see something like this for my Z, I am going to go for the best price.

I am certainly not against saving money where you can.. But I just wonder what it does to the "real" companies. If they didn't make it to begin with.. those replicas wouldn't exist.

yeap spot on, quite a few people have told me the same thing

INGS dont make the kit themselves, they contract a specialist manufacturer - they make the tooling, build the kits for INGS, then make a few extra to sell themselves.......this happens with alot of parts

buying replica kits is a risk, if u knew for sure they came from the same factory then why not save the cash, but the problem is finding that info out

i wouldnt worry about the real companies, believe me they have business analysts smarter than u and i combined, and factor these replica sales in the price of their own kits to begin with, otherwise they simply wouldnt remain profitable.
