Putting Top Down Roadster

Hi forum. When i put my top down the rear cover starts to open than stops, than i take finger off switch and press again and it opens a little more. I have to do that several times b4 it opens all way and the top goes down. I figure it may be a bad switch or relay or something but i really dont know what to look for. Any advice or insite will be appriciated. Thanks

Before going too much further, you may want to check the backside of the sunroof switch and make sure the connection is secure. If it's not properly making contact or the wires are pinched, it could explain the intermittent operation. Otherwise, it may be any component in the roof opening switching unit (switch, relay or computer) that's failing. Do get a code reader and check the BCM (body control module) section for any trouble codes.

Sorry, I meant the top switch, not sunroof. Have you checked the connections? Also, the BCM may hold some codes and help troubleshoot the top.

My 04 does exactly the same thing. I guess it could be the rocker switch because it never does it -raising- the ragtop. Also the top warning light on the dash stays on all the time the top is down but not when it's raised back to closed position. No idea if the 2 things are related.

I have not had a chance to play with it but i am going to check the connections on the back of the switch. My top does it when lowering the top but now when raising it.

Again, have you checked codes held in memory of your ZR's diagnostic system? The BCM codes may tell you exactly what the problem is.
