Question What is happening to auto forums?

Is it just me, or have you noted a drastic lack of participation on this (and other) forums?

Why is this?
Are car forums in general dying?

As I've been a member of forums for many years, I've never seen such a drop
in new threads and, a increase in vendor posts(especially one "lighting" vendor who
will remain nameless) just to fill up space.

Its not only with this forum, its with the other Z forum too.
I'm also a member of a forum for a Korean vehicle that is just as bad.
In fact, most posts have little to do with the general purpose of the vehicle.
Most are about how to hook up a iPad,USB cables etc.

Even the obligatory ,"what intake is best" posts are gone.

Thats not all that bad lol.

Could it be that:
-guys are done with their cars?
-guys have little interest in mods?
Body kit posts have gone away
-guys have no money?
-no more car guys that know how to work on their cars?

Could be some like me, After many years working&spending the bucks on my car,

I'm done.

However, there are a few guys with deep pockets that offer "build threads"
showing every step of the redo of their Z. Yes, there are a few like my
next door neighbor's wife that changes the entire interior of her house yearly.

Where do people get the money?

Your thoughts?

I think interest will increase or decrease in forums depending on the age of the current generation of a vehicle. For example the Z is ready for an update and I expect you will see a strong increase in forum activity when it is released.

Good point.

I'm also on a 370 forum. After there were more used 370's available, out of
warranty

to the new owner, more mods began.
From my experience, there is not that much 2014-2015 370 owners do to their cars except maybe some power mods.

About a year ago, there was a huge increase of buyers for older 350's.
Mostly the Civic owners movin on up.
This has slowed down.
Maybe there are competitive brands out there. To be sure, the BRZ/FRS
have made inroads.

You could be right, a new platform Z comes out, it could promote interest
in earlier models.

I still thing the Z33 is a great platform, there is still a huge amount of parts out
there at reasonable prices.
