According to an article in the print edition of the Wall Street Journal from a month ago, Chrysler was only asking $10 million for Viper. This price included every last piece of tooling, a very good deal indeed. Devon tried the lo-ball route with a bid of only 5.5 million and was asking for all kinds of extras. For a company with the ambition to be an independent car manufacture, Devon kinda blew it by letting this acquisition slip by.
Latest word is that Chrysler is keeping the brand going, and Fiat (who was reluctant at first) may inject some Ferrari technology into Viper.
