Hi Steve, yes. The data-logging I could do without if push comes to shove but the other 2 are must-haves if I'm going to do another ECU change.

One person can change the world, but I'll just change it back

I narrowed the search down to two and I'm still evaluating which would be best suited to the Aussie market as they are very similiar. I also need to chat a bit of a chat with a couple of tuners as well. Update on some of the question/product features asked for so far regarding the two I'm still evaluating:

I want multiple maps. I'd probably get something like this if I could get my 3 ideal tunes and be able to cycle between them
Both reflashes offer this.

Must haves in a < $1,500 unit
1. Data logging capabilities
2. Ability to delete or ignore certain CELs (02 sensors rear bank in particular)
3. Manage larger injectors and fuel delivery
Both reflashes offer these features (available in different versions).

That would be nice. If they bundled a "read only" piece of software that you could do data logging with, I'd be quite interested.
This is available by one the reflash companies with or without the reflash if wanted. Please note though that 2003 and early 2004 Zeds do not come with wide-band O2 sensors (std on 2004.5 models). Aftermarket sensors would need to be installed to get some of this info. Need to confirm if this is also the case on Aussie Zeds.

hmmmm what about tuning the Throttle bodies opening?
Both reflashes offer this. Will need to check on the sensitivity though.

My favourite bit is the part where it says that splicing an intereceptor into your ECU doesn't void your warranty.

"I swear, officer, its all factory options!"

Understeer is when you hit the tree with the front wheel.
Oversteer is when you hit it with the back.
Horsepower is how hard you hit the tree...
Torque is how far you drag it...

Does the reflash/tune apply to all these?

1. VQ35DE (non-REVup) (2003-2005, 2006AT)
2. VQ35DE (REVup) (35th anniversary MT, 2006MT)
3. VQ35HR (2007+)

Ok...

The Greddy Emanage Ultimate is a piggy back ecu which will let you tune nearly all parameters that are modified. The only thing that it does not do is VTC.

Are you looking at a standlone or piggyback?

Standalone only. Not looking at the piggyback option.

Narrowed down to Uprev Osiris and Cobb AccessPORT.

I think RE Customs has had some good success tuning an R35 with a Cobb... tune + mid-pipe + slight increase in boost netted a ~ 360rwkw.

One person can change the world, but I'll just change it back

I'm keen as hell for a tune, and with my current mods/goals for the car, I am looking at the unichip, solely due to the lack of other options here in AUS. Especially here in the west. Dream ECU would be something along the Motec/Vipec/Autronic sort of stand alone lines, but thats dream land for me at the moment.

Pretty much all of the things I would want in a 'budget' tune/flash have been listed above already. IE datalogging, code reader thingy, multiple maps etc... Cam control would be nice as well. (Well once I steal Ian's cams...)

WANTED: Rich uncle. About to die. Must be willing to leave me all his money.

My greatest problem with ECU reflash is:

Them: Hello [ insert one of many so called 350Z expert tune houses ], expert guru speaking.
Me: Hi I have a 350Z, can you do ECU flash upgrades?
Them: maaaaaaaate yeh no worries we know all about them
Me: It is a HR, is that still OK?
Them: A what?
Me: A VQ35HR engine, you know, the third type in the 07-08 models, as opposed to the DE and DE revup
Them: Never heard of them, all 350Zs have the same engine just like the Navara, G35 and Murano. you are not thinking of the new one the 370 or 380Z are you?
Me: Ok thanks, I will pop around in a few days and get a quote off you, bye. (n.b. few = 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 or more)

They are "experts" that don't even know there are different engines in various models and they expect me to give them thousads of dollars so they can at best "experiment" with my vehicle.

This is not one or two but EVERY ONE I HAVE RUNG all over Australia........

This includes all the ones I have read about on here as well.....

It's life Jim, but not as we know it....
