I made an excel spreadsheet to document everything. There are categories such as Modifications, Gas, Payments, Tickets/Legal, etc.. everytime I buy wax, change oil, pay a ticket, or decide on a part I want, it gets documented. The list under modifications with "$0" in the total spent block is very long lol. But it's good to put down what I plan to get and once I get it I fill in that block and color that row as "complete". There's a grand total block that adds up the totals of every category showing exactly how much I've spent on the car since I bought it.

whoa strange i missed this thread.

ive got my road map like this so far -

stage 1:
drop in air filter (done - K&N Hi Flow Panel)
lowered springs (done - Eibach Pro Kit)
HID's - (done - 6000K)

Stage 2:
rims - 18" nismo lmgt4's limited in Black
swaybars - not sure which one yet
brakes - new pads & slotted rotors, w/ master cylinder stopper & braided lines
audio/visual - probaly a double din TV with splits/sub & amp

Stage 3:
APS Single Turbo kit inc. catback & plenum (yep i cant afford twin lol)
nismo kit + nismo stripe sticker kit


i think ill be pretty happy with that once its done

ONE OF THE FIRST RULES IN MODIFYING; Do NOT keep comprehensive records and tally the exact total cost, write offs, R&D costs, and change of mind expenses. It will deprive you of the utter thrill and enjoyment that modifying itself, brings to your life. Keeping a ledger of costs and outgoings is similar to a herion addict kleeping his "chemical costs" in a folder for reflection on the sanity of engaging in the art of snorting,shooting,freebasing,injecting,procuring, stealing,lying, cheating,dole bludging,free dressing, and all but feeding himself. (Don't think for a moment that the hapless herion addict comparison hasn't been used before, especially when you can confidently say "At least my habbit is cheaper and I have something to sell swap trade, at the end of it. Not to mention my healthy body!") If you are modifying, keep this in mind, "annorexia is your friend" it is such a waste of good money to feed yourself as well as modify. Sleep is such a waste of time. NOTHING beats swapping gearboxes in the gutter between finish of work and start the next day. There is a good 14 hours there that can do the job and a pizza shared between friends is the definition of "blissful bonding of the Hunters" or conversly "information sharing" whilst the girlfriend spends yet another lonely night tossing all on her own. (lets face it, she would much rather toss with you my friend, at least in the early days. Its later that she prefers solo) In the morning, she can wonder at your stamina and dig deep into her savings to prop up your habbit, or at least fill the tank with fuel......... sheeesh! (what is it with you?) Stockfor2Years, your out of step. If you keep records you can be called on to appease the guilt fairy and justify everything you have spent, rather than respond with the usual blanket response "I dunno what it cost, $20.00 or something like that, I forget. I know it definitely was cheap at that price though!" Anyhow darlin' look at that, isn't she noice with her (substitute latest accessory) fitted, not even Wayne's got onea them.
BE ASDVISED; You will loose at the end of the journey and it will prevent the wailing a gnashing of teeth, when you do not fully know the extent of your losses.
Believe me I've been there/am there, but at 50+ I recon I am going to learn not to do this (or have the quickest damned walker, probably with 2 bells in the retirement villiage)

I&#39;m noob Z guy here so im still trying to learn how to get around my car&#39;s parts.

I noticed that some of you guys included oil coolers and steering wheel oil coolers as part of their upgrades?

Dont they come with the vehicle?

The reason I&#39;m asking this is that im using the Gulf Specs and i&#39;m not really sure what makes it different from the market in the other areas.

Uprated / lightweight radiator

There&#39;s an a and b path, depending on if I keep the car NA and keep the grip/power ratio on the positive, or go all out and get twin turbos....which may lead to an unforeseen brake / wheel upgrade.

Also, if I pop the bottom end I&#39;ll get it rebuilt properly, but since its a repair and not a replacement of a working product I don&#39;t consider it in my staging. None of my mods technically require a bottom end rebuild, since APS&#39; TT kit seems to be holding up well and even with the EBC and cam I&#39;m not after that much more power.


As you can see, I&#39;m almost at Stage 1 Complete. Once I get there, I&#39;ll have to decide if I suck it in and go to Stage 2 or leave the car at a mild upgrade but not that much more stressed than stock.


So, do other people have a modification roadmap?
Where do you run what is your 1/4 mile times ? How big is your stereo I bet you&#39;ve got soft hands.

I intend to strip the nissan logo off the back but I believe there are two little impressions underneath, so that will be disappointing. Feel free to add your bits here folks.............re badging.
All mods will be done in a very short two weeks mid June, (I hope) and are sitting in a warehouse, with the JUN stuff arriving June 10.
Its rushed, but having modded for a lot of years, I have never walked into a kitted car when its still very new, so thats the motivation for me now. When youth is on your side, i recommend taking years to do your car, as it adds little pleasures along the way and pleasant interludes to what can be a mundane lifestyle when your locked into a 9-5.
Its not a daily driver, but should be fun once finished.
1. 1st disappointment would have to be the paint job so were off to a flying start. (a crowd in brisbane will sort this as they are full time into Porche ,BMW ,Mercedes repair people so a good quality colour match should be simple for them. Panel beaters out here are renound for their family trees being a straight line. That theory has been proven yet again I&#39;m afraid.
Thats about it...............oh working on replacing the lower spring carriers (arm) on the rear and making that trailing arm adjustable for full rear end adjustment, (camber and toe). I have four scales on the workshop floor so that when we adjust the Teins, we park each wheel on a scale, and we are able to measure the force on each wheel (and adjust) to arrive at a balanced suspension package. (something we used to do when on the circuit before).
Whoops, I guess an LSD would make this a more interesting drive, so I&#39;ll be looking at that very soon.
