6MT vs 5AT through the canyon/track

just wondering what the real benefit is of using a manual vs an AT at the track. when i say AT, i mean the shift kit that it has. NOT driving it in D.

I believe the only advantage is that you are able to choose gears whenever you want with the manual. There is usually a delay with the automatic.

when i use the tiptronic or whatever you call it on my z, it has barely any lag and i can shift to any gear any time i want unless im at a stop light... i've heard that with professional drivers, when it comes down to times at the track, the difference is hundreths of a second.
