Unhappy 1st 1/4mi run in my Z

I finally got around to the drag strip last night after work. I ran 5 times & sadly my best time was a 14.7 at 97mph! Wth?? I'm pretty disappointed with the results I was aiming at least a 14 flat. Idk if it's me but that just seems slow for this car.
Mods:
Mrev2 w/ 5/8 spacer
K&N FIPK intake
HKS catback
act stage 1 clutch
act flywheel
short shifter installed
oil catch can installed
Ground wire kit installed

There was alittle bit windy & I ran with my windows down idk if it makes a huge difference or not.

could be a million factors in that equation tbh.. are you on street tires? how much tread is left on them if so? how wide are your tires? what was your 60' time? what were you launching at? what rpm's were you shifting at? this was also your first time at the strip in that car ;)

That was a great 5 years with the Z. Moved on to better mpg and regular unleaded.

My first time I ran exactly 14 flat at 101. My 60' was crap and I spun all of first and most of second on crappy street tires. Every shift thereafter was perfect, so I know at best this car has a good 13.5 in it if you could hook up and get a decent holeshot.

It was around 85 outside 10mph winds
I had 245 BF Goodrich g/Force in the rear but they were bald so I put my 225 Nexens about 90% tread still on them. I had decent traction out of the hole with a .268 reaction time. I rolled out fine cuz then I'd wheel hop all of 1st if I launch over 1300rpm. I dnt have my time slip on me cuz I'm at work but I will post up all the number later on. I was shifting at about 5900 rpm shifting fine not missing a gear all nite.

If your tires don't grip, your launch will be affected causing your times to be a bit slower. Also, if you were running with a full tank of gas, keep in mind that a gallon of gas is equivalent to approximately 7 lbs.

If you're mashing the gas pedal down to the floor, doesn't matter if you're launching at 1300rpm. You have to ease into it and control the acceleration. I know it's hard and irresistible to do that at less than full throttle, but it takes practice.

Just keep practicing.

What altitude were you at?

Putting aside your ET, your trap speed is s little low. You should be crossing the traps in the 100-103 MPH range. 97 MPH indicates either higher than sea level altitude, below stock power output, or short shifting one or more gears.
Not to mention the fact you were on 225 tires, so we can assume that your 60' time was nothing to write home about.

I was running on alil above 1/4 tank of gas I've been to this track afew time before so I knew right away not to mash the gas pedal at the start. I rolled out w/o tire spin. Like I said the rear tires are basically brand
new. I eased the gas pedal to reduce the chance of wheel spinning the launch.

San Antonio Raceway time slip numbers
Reaction: .5138
60ft: 2.2357
330ft: 6.3092
1/8 ET: 9.6083
1/8 mph: 76.22
1000 ET: 12.4295
1/4 ET: 14.7828
1/4mph: 96.88
There's my time slip. Like I mentioned it was my 1st run in the Z so there can be plenty more time to practice the 1/4 & to install wider tires in the rear

From what I understand, your 60 ft times should be below 2 seconds. That's key in lowering your overall time. Of course, Ronin brought up a good point. You may be running lower than normal HP. Maybe you need a tune.

Ideally you'd like to see 60ft times below 2 seconds... but it's most likely not going to happen too often on street tires. At least not with any sort of consistency. Not to mention on 225's. The few times I've taken my Z to the strip I hover in the 2.0-2.1 range. With one dip into the 1.9 range. But I'm on 285's.
