Nissan VQ35HR Engine
Nissan VQ35HR Engine

Welcome to the VQ35HR engine portal. This engine is the 4th generation in the VQ series motors and it is confirmed to be in the 2007 model 350Z, and the 2007 model Infiniti G35 Sedan. As of now, the 2007 Infiniti G35 Coupe will not receive the VQ35HR engine, but will keep the VQ35DE Rev Up engine it had during 2006. The 2008 Infiniti G35 Coupe will receive the larger displacement VQ37HR (available mid-2007). There are significant differences to this new engine due to a different method used to calculate power output, side by side comparisons of the VQ35HR and VQ35DE engines is difficult.

This engine will be both found in both Infiniti and Nissan vehicles.

There is also a 2.5L variant called the VQ25HR.

Available in: 2007 G35 Sedan, 2007 350Z

Special thanks to JWT for taking apart this VQ35HR so fast. You can't even buy a car with this engine yet! We get to see first hand the complete redesign of the intake system. Gone is the cast aluminum intake plenum. New is the dual intake system including dual airboxes and throttle bodies. The new intake plenum is plastic! and oddly square! ?

Speculation

The engine is being introduced first in the G35 Sedan and 350Z as a 3.5 liter powerplant. However the significant improvements in this engine will most likely be carried over into the other vehicles eventually as well as various displacements. It is also likely the improvements will be introduced into the Nissan VK series V8 engines.

Notes

New factory established for the sole purpose of VQ35HR and VQ25HR engine production.

The 2007 G35 Sedan was the first car announced to have the Nissan VQ35HR engine. Some recent spy pictures show the G Sedan has a true dual exhaust system. This is insightful as to what the new Z will come with: true dual. This may be what Nissan has referred to as the symmetrical intake and exhaust systems.

The nissan VQ engine new model output 315PS

2006 August 30th

The Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. technical announcement did on the 22nd, the new “VQ” serial V6 engine. The fact that first it is loaded is the next term 'skyline which is announced to the fall'. If you mention “the skyline”, in the Japanese market whatever saying, the image of the sport sedan is strong.

The new VQ engine the light response, engine sound, cleanliness conversion of fuel economy and the waste gas has pursued and, efficiency multilaterally, but those where than what it is more strongly required because image of the sport sedan is satisfied probably are the output characteristics which actualize the height of power efficiency.

Power efficiency of the car is decided not only the engine, efficiency and gear ratio and the car of the transmission weight and so on, by the various primary factors.

As for Akagi Yutaka history main bearing of the power train first development department which takes charge of the design, as for power efficiency there is a self-confidence, class top “concerning the next term skyline. 0-60 mile /h (0-96km/h) as for acceleration, in domestic 3.5 liter model most fast class. You think” that with intermediate acceleration efficiency the top is done, that, self-confidence is shown.

The specifications are not published yet, but highest output is expected that specific output per 1 liters in aerodynamic volume displacement in general becomes approximately 90ps. In regard to calculation at 3.5 liters approximately 315ps. This reaches 3.5 liters “2GR-FSE” and the even number which the Toyota Motor Corporation has adopted for rec suspension 'GS', same 'IS' and the Toyota 'Crown' etc.

Reflection to the NISSAN VQ engine new model type designation

2006 August 29th

Keeping the Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., full the new model V6 engine “VQ35HR” which it appears (3.5 liters in aerodynamic volume displacement), “VQ25HR” (2.5 liters in aerodynamic volume displacement). But very type the same as the current 'skyline' on-board machine VQ, in fact another engine is the NISSAN insistence.

You say that moving part other things such as piston and connecting rod and dynamic valve system, 8 tenths of principal part are the new design, with the engine block which is renovated extensively. The majority of 2 tenths which remain being able to meet, is with something which does not have the necessity of redesigning.

“Also an argument that there was a tracing paper ocean routine work of the development patsy it should make new type designation, but we forced to the type designation, VQ and you say we had the reflection, could meet and made succeed the name of VQ”.

High appraisal was received e.g., the VQ engine to FF it was converted in 94 being loaded 'by [sehuiro]', later, receives improvement such as direct injection conversion and electromagnetic variable valve timing mechanism adoption briskly, is elected to “Ward's 10 Best Engines” of the American [wazu] corporation with 12 year continuation. The nissan thinking where is visible to brand we would like to convert the type of VQ, the walking such as that as a backbone.

The new VQ series that the light response, it stood side-by-side the engine sound which does not have the turbidity and such as fuel economy and clean waste gas efficiency, is required to the next generation engine low the factor which at high dimension. The way of the completion and how.

As for the NISSAN VQ engine new model 0-100km/h acceleration a little more than 1 second shortening

2006 August 22nd

The Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. 22 days the new generation V type 6 cylinder engine "VQ35HR" which is announced (3.5 liters) with "VQ25HR" (2.5 liters), continual variable valve timing mechanism to inhalation and exhalation of air both sides (CVTC) raised largely with the improvement of advancement and the friction and pumping loss etc. of control of the combustion with adoption, output and fuel economy efficiency in comparison with old type.

The new engine is loaded first the new model ' skyline ', but from takeoff until 100km/h a little more than 1 second it shortened time, both 2.5 and 3.0 liter engine, in comparison with the engine on-board car until recently.

In case of 3.0 liters, you say that it reaches to 100km/h in approximately 6 seconds. As for CVTC inhalation side hydraulic system, exhaust side has made electromagnetic system.

With friction decrease inside the cylinder, it makes the size of the connecting rod long, connects to the friction pressure reduction to the piston. In addition, skirt width small was designated as the form which controls the paragraph and resistance the skirt section of the piston (lower part) form concerning the part whose surface pressure is small.

The acceleration sound which is force with the NISSAN VQ engine new model clearing

Line

2006 August 22nd

The Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. 22 days is announced the FR car private new generation V type 6 cylinder engine "VQ35HR" which (3.5 liters) with "VQ25HR" (2.5 liters), is tradition of the VQ series "you blow lightly and smoothly rises the engine which" theme. With output and environmental efficiency this time, being thorough, what it pursues says "the acceleration sound whose feeling is good" (the tracing paper ocean routine work) with.

In order to pull out the acceleration sound which does not have the turbidity, the inhalation exhaust system which is loaded onto the vehicle the twin who does complete symmetrical shape (the muffler 2) has made system. Is audible with the driver's seat as for the acceleration sound which occurs the case of inhalation and exhaust the sound which large portion.

As for the tracing paper routine work "as for the inhalation and exhalation of air system, those like the flute. In case of twin system, that length of the tube is different in left and right, sound is easy to become turbid ", that you say. Then, when the new model ' skyline where this engine is loaded ' is, the exhaust system with left and right is designed in complete symmetrical shape.
