This kit is great for a stock engine and one of the biggest selling points now is the high level of customizing that Turbonetics offers.

"The reason for the intercooler fan set up was when we talked to several G35 people including dealers and magazine people the majority of people felt that retaining the stock front facia was important so we designed around this. We calculated the required airflow required across the intercooler core and the available airflow with the stock front facia in place was too restrictive, even when ducting was contimplated the airflow was not enough. The answer was to create a fan shroud with a pair of Spal pusher fans to force the airflow needed across the core. the shroud actually increased the airflow over simply mounting the fans on brackets. The fans are tied into a relay system that runs the fans at 50% speed when the key is on but under no boost to help heat soak under no boost conditions as sitting in traffic and then once you get into boost the fans kick up to 100%. The other feature we desinged in was if you do change the facia to a front opening version the fans and shroud simply unbolt, you then turn the intercooler around putting the shroud mounting bosses facing the rear of the car and re-install back into the mounting brackets. it then looks just like the 350Z.

The standard kit comes with an ECU reflash for engine management. This reflash was designed for use on an otherwise stock engine. Any changes to the intake or exhaust systems *may* make this reflash tune unsafe. Improper tune will destroy the high compression, aggressive timing engine of the 350Z and G35.

Notes

ECU Flash

  • Care must be taken when using this kit in its stock ECU flash. An increase (not from the turbocharger kit) in airflow or fuel may put your engine at risk of failure. User tunable engine management is highly suggested when installing additional modifications with this turbo kit. Any changes to the exhaust or intake systems may require retuning.

Exhaust Systems

  • This turbo kit comes with piping that replaces the stock catalytic converters and Y-Pipe. Y-back exhaust systems can be used with this turbo kit. True dual exhausts will require a custom fabricated "reverse y-pipe" to properly mate with the kit's single 3" downpipe.

Variants

  • There are several variations to this kit for both the 350z and G35. One option is to replace the downpipe to have a high-flow catalytic-converter instead.

  • There is a tuner kit which comes without the ECU reflash, fuel injectors, modified stock fuel pressure regulator (FPR), and fuel pump for those that wish to use different parts.
  • Turbonetics is now working on a "Stage 1.5" version of the kit which will include larger fuel injectors, Turbonetics fuel return system, and the Q+ Unichip engine management. This is still in development (estimated summer release).
  • The G35 version of this kit includes intercooler mounted auxilliary fans to accommodate proper airflow with the stock G35 front bumper.
  • Also, warranty is 12 month/12,000 mile no-fault, no-hassle, on EVERY part of the kit.
  • Turbo included with the Stage I and Stage 1.5 kits is good to about 500 RWHP at roughly 18 PSI. Upgraded compressor wheel or turbo available through Turbonetics as part of the kit at an added cost. Turbonetics would need to know your output plans to customize it to your needs.
  • Turbo included with the Stage II kit is good to about 700 RWHP at roughly 20 PSI. Fuel system included with the kit good to AT LEAST 550 RWHP with proper tuning.

Headers

  • Aftermarket headers will work with this kit due to the design and turbo placement, but will require mild to moderate modification of the upper downpipe. All header combinations have produced varying piping misalignment, vibration, and exhaust leaks due to the close proximity of the headers, downpipe, and body. Owners who have run the kit with headers installed have reported slightly higher peak power numbers, but a decrease in turbo response (more lag).
