I was asked to do a write up on how I attached my front plate. I used a DIY by Roark. These pics are from his install.

Parts

  • One aluminum L-stock 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" x 1/16" thick, and cut it to 12" long.
  • One 5/8" I.D. aluminum square stock cut to 2-3/4" long.
  • One metric bolt, 16MM x 90mm long with washer NOTE: The tow hook bolt size has changed over the years. Please verify your bolt size before purchasing
  • Two metric screws, with lock nuts and washers. 5mm x 18mm long.

Procedure

Drill an 11/16" hole in the center of the L-stock and run the bolt through the washer, the L-stock and the square stock, threading it into the tow hook hole in the aluminum bumper.

The bottom of the L-stock rests on the top horizontal grill slat, and the square stock keeps the entire assembly rigid.

Notice the smaller holes, drilled at 10-3/16" apart for the stock license plate bracket to mount.

Finished

I painted mine black after I test fit this so the aluminum doesn't show as much.
