Flywheels
From Nissan 350Z & 370Z Wiki
Being able to match road-speed to engine speed is critical for fast shifting. This is made far simpler by optimizing the weight of the flywheel. These billet aluminum flywheels are typically just over half the weight of the stock iron unit. With the reduced weight, less power is needed to overcome flywheel inertia. The result is a quicker revving, more responsive motor.
Changing the flywheel out should be done in conjunction with an aftermarket clutch. You will save significant money in labor expenses if done this way.
A heavy metal wheel with a starter ring that is mounted at the rear of the crankshaft. It absorbs energy on power stroke(s), return energy on other stroke(s), and transfers power to the clutch or torque converter. 2. Front-most part of a clutch assembly that is bolted to the engine crankshaft with a rear surface to provide a smooth friction area for the disc-front facing to contact during clutch engagement.
NOTE: Stock flywheel weight is 24lbs.
