The stock intake on the Nissan 350Z is a great design that functions both as a semi-ram air and cold air box intake. However a cheap paper filter that is very restrictive comes as standard equipment. Changing the filter to one of these available aftermarket ones will free up the engine breathing to produce extra horsepower and torque.

Cone Type
The cone type filters available for the 350Z and G35 replace the entire intake box in favor of an open cone filter. These filters come with special hardware allowing direct connection to the MAF intake duct. The cone filter provides greater filter surface area allowing greater suction and easier breathing. The removal of the OEM intake box, will increase the sound of the engine, however it may increase intake temperatures somewhat.

Drop in Type Filters
The stock 350Z airbox is well designed and serves as a heat shield to the incoming air. The stock design is a semi-ram air design and can be turned into a full ram air intake with one of the available Intake Ducts available on the market. The stock filter is made of constricting paper and these drop in filters free up the air allowing the engine to breather better.
