change clutch slave cylinder

do i need to drop the gearbox out to change the clutch slave cylinder in.a 2008 350Z Roadster

The '08 Z33 models came equipped with the VQ35HR engine. That means it used a concentric slave cylinder (CSC), not an external slave, and can only be accessed by pulling the gearbox. So, YES, and depending on the miles and condition, use the opportunity to check the clutch/flywheel and replace the gearbox lube with Redline MT85.
