Used turbo/supercharger

Can anyone tell me some pros and cons to buying a used turbo/sc? Starting to grow real tired of na but i have other bills so a $10,000 is a little out of my league right now.

We'll assume a shop will be doing the work if you're asking such a question, they'll have all the details, living in certain states makes it harder or easier. Smog, c.a.r.b. cert, and so on

There's bigger costs with FI than you think. The VQ was designed as a NA engine and the added load from either a turbo or supercharger will put heat and stress on the shortblock that was never designed to handle it. Without rebuilding the shortblock, your VQ ie living on borrowed time, so buying a "used" turbo or supercharger is only the first gamble. How lucky do ya feel?

I bought my twin kit used but the first thing I did was have the turbos rebuilt, replaced hoses, replaced diaphragms in the blow off valve & waste gates, replace gaskets, hoses, etc...just factor in $1000 to $1500 to refresh the kit after your install.

Sorry guys for not replying been busy lately but i totally agree on the rebuild aspect. I have found some used low mile motors near me im thinking of buying and rebuilding those and then just swapping the motors out

And i guesz the point i was getting at was with a used kit would it be cheaper to buy a used kit and "refresh" it or just buy a new kit.
