07 HR Exhaust Buzzing around 2K RPMs
I have seen a lot of threads regarding exhaust vibration/buzz/hiss after adding high flow cats but I dont really see any definitive answers on how to eliminate it. So far I went and had a resonator added right behind the factory resonator, did nothing. I checked and/or removed any heat shield that might be vibrating and have checked every inch of the exhaust for leaks or weak links. It seems to be the worst when I am driving normally, particularly when I take off or when I let off the throttle, sounds like a Honda Civic with a tin can muffler. Sounds great at idle, nice low rumble and also sounds good when I gun it. The noise does sound like it may be coming from the y-pipe or possibly the flex pipe on the passenger side but I cant really find any leaks of vibrations there, kind of a whisping sound in that area. So now, my last resort is to have a small turbo muffler welded in place of the factory resonator before going back to factory cats. I know I may lose a little bit of mid/top end due to the addition of a little back pressure but I dont race it so Im ok with that, I just want it to sound good, right now it sounds cheap. I've had cars with rasp before, this doesnt sound like rasp, it sounds like crap, lol. Before I do this I had a couple of questions that Im hoping someone might can help out on.
1) Has anyone else tried this and if so did it work.
2) Is there any chance of creating issues due to the added back pressure of the muffler replacing the straight through resonator. (running rich/heat/etc)
