Default Front Grille Opening Blockers?

I had to remove my front fascia for some minor repairs and in doing so I knocked off one of the grille side "guards" and broke the damn push clips. (Looking at the front, there are one of these guards on either side of the grille openings on a stock front fascia, reducing the open portion of the grille). Does anybody know what they are for? Looks? So you cannot see the cooler lines? Airflow?

They could probably slip in place if I loosen the lower engine splash guard, but since I didn't notice it until the facsia was put back on, I'm not inclined to buy clips and try to squeeze this guard in place unless I have to.

I have heard of track guys who purposely remove those to get better cooling. Si I'm guessing they are there simply for looks. If it looks ok to you from the outside, don't worry about it

Sounds good to me. Even a dealer didn"t know what they are for.

Thanks.

I cut out my OEM grille for better airflow to my intercooler…IMO it looks better without anything there...
