I just installed a new Fast Intentions Intimidator Exhaust on my 2008 350Z.
The system for those of you who are unfamiliar with it is a true dual exhaust. I chose to go the test pipe route and dispense with the Cats. I love the deep sound of it BUT, the car just seems to me not to pull as hard. I realize this is anecdotal as I have not dynoed the car before or after but the seat of the pants test says, something is not quite right. The engine is rock stock except for a dual cold Air intake system. I have been wondering if I should disconnect the battery and let the ECU sleep and then re-try so the ECU can re-learn the new system but I do not have high hopes for this. So Now I am wondering if my next step must be an engine/ECU tune to change the parameters to deal with the intake and exhaust changes or????? And if I am to go with a Tuner or piggyback type module, which type really works and is worth the money??? Thanks much, Mike

Some people have commented that the aftermarket intakes don't offer as good gains without a tune, maybe its that.
You may see an improvement after you reset the ECU. Not sure about HR models but it could be the same method, you don't need to unplug the battery. You should be able to find it in a search on the forum somewhere...

Does the exhaust have a cross pipe of some sort? On NA cars with V engines, a lack of cross piping has been known to cause a loss in the midrange.
What is the diameter of the exhaust? Oversizing it can also cause a loss of power in the part of the rev range a street car spends most of its time..

Thanks guys for all your comments. I would have answered sooner but I was not notified of any of your responses. I need to look into that and see what is up.
I did not know you can reset your ECU without diconnecting the battery. I need to learn more about that. And as to size of piping and crossover, let me look into those right away and report back to you guys, thanks, much. I am also now looking at the Cobb unit to solve this issue. mike
