I have been having problems with my right rear tire and rotor. The rotor started to wear uneven and I could hear the tire scraping when I drove kind of like I had the e brake on. I am trying to change the brakes ( non brem) but the rotor refuses to come off. I have tried for over 5 hours to get it off with no luck. I believe that the E brake has malfunctioned and wont disengage anyone know of anyway I can release the e brake I really need to get this rotor off. Call or texts work at 623 742 5242 as I am going to be working on the car so I wont be inside a lot to check the replies. I would like to be able to get it figured out tonight if possible. Thanks for the help everyone.

Have you unwound the adjuster for the handbrake shoes?
Remove the rubber plug seen on the left hand rotor. ![]() Inside you will find something similar to the below pic. ![]() NOT AN ACTUAL 350Z ROTOR That bit circled in red you want to wind in by poking a screwdriver through the hole left by the rubber grommet I mentioned earlier. If you wind it the wrong way the rotor won't turn. Wind it all the way in and it should spin freely. Once the rotor is spinning freely, start belting the back of the rotor with a rubber mallet. May take some force but that should do it.

Here's what worked for me. As everybody says, spray PB blaster on the lug studs and the hole in the middle of the rotor. Repeat this as many times as you can.
If you can rotate the hub then the parking brake is probably not the issue Then remove the caliper and the caliper bracket. The two holes for the caliper bracket are the key. Get 2 bolts with nuts and washers about 3 or 4 inches long. Use a size that will fit through the holes. put the bolt through the hole and put the nut and washer in between the rotor and the tab with the hole. While holding the bolt with a wrench tighten the nut until it pushes against the rotor. Do both bolts in both holes. Then tighten each one a little at a time. Watch the studs to see if you get some movement. If you get a little movement then back off the bolts, rotate 180* and repeat. Don't be afraid put some pressure on it. It will pop loose. Also put 2 lug nuts back on loosely to prevent the rotor from popping off onto the floor or your foot. Also don't worry if the bolts leave marks on your rotors they will clean up when the rotors are turned. |
