My passenger side power steering boot is torn badly so I need to replace it. Is this something that I should attempt myself? I'm pretty mechanically inclined but working on the steering scares me. Should I do it and get an alignment afterwards? I really need an alignment anyway. I have have had the car for 35K miles and I've never done one. Even after putting on my Nismo S-Tune coilovers!

Some more information...I believe that the "lock plate" and "spacer ring" on the "inner socket" came loose. I think that the lock plate actually cut the boot. I have a boot kit which includes a new spacer ring and a lock plate. In the FSM, they talk about "caulking" the lock plate. I am a little confused about this...they don't mention any sort of caulk that I am familiar with (a dirty joke here would be too obvious, don't do it!).
