At 2500-3000 RPM the oil pressure gauge should read around 60 PSI, but the factory gauge is not all that accurate. Your CEL will come on if you dont have enough pressure.

Congrats on the purchase and welcome to Tech

I thought the tech manual for the z has the idle oil pressure at about 13-14 PSI...

at cruising speed on highway it should be about 60 PSI.. someone correct me if im wrong.

Thats right Cykick my bad I had that mixed up (been about a week since ive drove the Z). It should run about 60psi at 2500- 3000 rpm in each gear.

I am going to fix my 1st post

First of all, to the site, and congrats on the purchase of your Z. Your first question has already been answered correctly so...

I'm assuming the "cubbyhole" you are referring to is the one right below the oil pressure and volt gauges... Depending on the trim level of your Z there was a navigation system that came optional with it from the dealership. If it isn't the nav system then I would assume that whoever had the Z before you added it possibly for an in car pc or a DVD player... If this is the case, it is unnecessary and you should remove it immediately. Upon removal quickly ship it to me for ::cough cough:: disposal...

J/K... if you can't figure it out throw a pic up, I'm sure someone will have seen one before.

Also the oil pressure varies with its temperature. The numbers people quoted above are all for operating temps, not cold temps. When you first start the car and it is idle the pressure may very well be above 60psi. I know mine is, however it drops to ~12psi when it warms up.

thanks for the replies... found out the the old owner did put a screen in there but its not hooked up maybe ill hooked it up with my eclipes avn5435 if any one has any ideas how to hook it up that would help. my oil gauge goes up and down alot when i start the car it will usually be at 60 but driving it can go down to about 40-45 then back up and even some time to about 70-75.

When its cold it will be different, usually higher. Once warm, it should be 60psi @ 3k rpms.
