I have an 03 touring z with 75000 6 speed of course and my daily driver. I'm having my engine rebuilt because I was having a misfire in the 2nd cylinder, could be a scorched cylinder wall or broken head is what i'm told by my dealer. I'm taking this fine opportunity to upgrade my motor. I'm not looking for any FI. However, I am looking for around 400hp when I'm finished and hopefully a 10second car. So I'm starting with looking at cams. Just curious if anyone has replaced their cams if so which ones?
Any and all advice is much appreciated! |

I'm laughing too...
to get 400whp will cost you $15k and you'll need a procharger or vortech supercharger kit or a middle of the road turbo kit. a NA Z makes 250 +/- whp, cams will add maybe 20… I would look into Jim Wolf Technology's … I have the C2 and it a rough idle but around 4000rpm they really kick in… I like the 10second car (with a cam swap) the best...

hey a guy can dream!
I have about a $5k budget and that's labor included so that's why I'm trying to stay away from FI. I have the engine pulled and stripped down to the long block to save money and I'm willing to take it all the way apart I'm just waiting to find the right shop to tackle the project to see if they want to take it apart themselves or have me just bring them a bunch of pieces. |

you may want to start saving…
I think the most people have gotten out of a NA aspirated, non-bored/stroked engine is 300whp and thats with every trick in the book.

Besides the futile attempt of trying to get a streetable 3.5L NA motor to produce 400rwhp, let's not forget one simple equation:
350Z + 400rwhp != 10 sec car -Ronin Z

350z w/cams + RJ + act of god = 10second quarter I'm just curious too, how'd you scortch #2/cracked block in the first place… I did a quick calc and I come up with with a engine speed of 10,720 rpm to get 400whp...
